Regional Support Groups

MGFA volunteers lead in-person and virtual groups across the United States. Regional groups help patients and family members connect with others in their area, building community and sharing advice on local medical providers, insurance, and other resources.

Specialty Support Groups

In addition to groups organized by location, MGFA offers the following specialty support groups:

  • Seronegative Myasthenia Gravis
Those who do not have a discernable autoantibody known to cause MG in their blood face additional challenges in managing their care. Get advice and talk to others who understand.
  • MAYA (Myasthenia Advocacy for Young Adults)
MAYA is designed to help people aged 18–40 live a successful and positive MG lifestyle. Through discussion topics and engagement opportunities designed for young adults, MAYA creates a community where young MG patients can share their experiences and knowledge.
  • International Spanish MG Support Group
¿Hablas español? Únete a este grupo de apoyo, dirigido en español. Todos son bienvenidos, incluso quienes viven fuera de Estados Unidos.
  • Caregivers
This group is open to all who love and care for someone living with MG.
  • Solo Seniors
Living alone as you age is tough… add in an MG diagnosis, and you face additional challenges! Gather with other solo seniors to connect, build your community, and gain advice on daily life with MG.
  • Parents of Children with MG
When children are diagnosed with MG, their parents often need support navigating the journey. This group is geared toward those caring for children and teens. If you are the parent of an adult with MG, consider joining the Caregivers Support Group.
  • Parenting with Myasthenia Gravis
This group connects individuals living with MG who are actively caring for children. Share tips and tricks for energy management, talking with your family about your disease, and more. Make friends and build your MG community.

I have been a proud support group leader since I was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis in 2016. I am extremely happy to be able to bring patients and caregivers together to ensure they receive the support and assistance they need to live a better quality of life with MG. I know, when I was diagnosed, I greatly benefitted from MGFA support groups and they helped me live my life with the ongoing support and love I need every day.
